On the afternoon of September 30, 2021, the preparatory meeting for the establishment of Jiangsu Biophysics Society was successfully held in the Artificial Intelligence Biomedical Technology Research Institute of Nanjing University. The meeting was conducted in the form of online and offline.

Nearly 40 guests attended the meeting, all of whom were experts, scholars and professors engaged in scientific research in the field of biophysics from universities and research institutes in Jiangsu Province.Li Zheng, Minister of Academic Department of Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology Association, Song Jia, Director of Academic Department of Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology Association, Zhang Chenyu, Dean of the College of Life Sciences of Nanjing University, Wang Wei, Director of the Institute of Physics of Nanjing University, Xie Wei, Dean of the Institute of Life Sciences of Southeast University, Gu Ning, Chief Professor of the College of Bioscience and Medical Engineering of Southeast University, Dean of the College of Biomedical Engineering and Information of Southern Medical University, Wu Jiawai, etc. attended the meeting.Professor Qi Xiaoyun, College of Life Sciences of Nanjing University, presided over the meeting.

Representatives spoke actively, especially the representatives of Xuzhou, Lianyungang, Yangzhou have expressed the urgent desire for the establishment of the Jiangsu Provincial Society of Biophysics, the urgent need for the construction of biophysics research technology platform and frozen electron microscope center, and the construction and operation of the society to make suggestions and proposals, hoping to have a province as soon as possible the exchange of biophysics, cooperation platform, to carry out more social services, and vigorously enhance the Jiangsu Province as a major province of science and technology with the matching of the research required basic hardware facilities.

Li Zheng, minister of the academic department of the Jiangsu Association of Science and Technology, pointed out at the meeting that the establishment of the Jiangsu Provincial Society of Biophysics is just mature and very necessary.The Provincial Association of Science and Technology will give the greatest support to the establishment and development of the society, hoping that the society can assume more tasks, not only to participate in the overall economic development and scientific and technological innovation, but also to participate in the construction of the service industry, but also to evaluate the talents and institutions of the whole industry, to lead the industry with academics, and to plan for the future of the industry.Minister Li fully affirmed the preparatory work of the society, and made specific arrangements for the next step of the society.

Professor Zhang Chenyu, dean of the School of Life Sciences of Nanjing University, introduced the follow-up work plan of the society to the participants. Professor Zhang Chenyu said that he would try his best to quickly promote the construction of scientific research instrument platform required by Jiangsu Society of Biophysics, provide high-quality public services for the majority of biophysics workers in the province, and improve the scientific research and industrialization level of biophysics in the province.

Finally, the meeting fully solicited suggestions from members. Under the guidance of the Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Provincial Civil Affairs Department, the establishment conference and the first congress of members will be held as soon as possible.It is expected that member units, members of the society and relevant collaborating units will actively participate in and contribute to the development of scientific research in the field of biophysics in Jiangsu Province.
